Re: invalid node error during connect to camera in Spectrum Analyser
Could you run the program evemon.exe first, then launch spectrumanalyzer and try to reproduce the bug? It should give you a detailed log of everything happening. From the name it looks like it's trying to access something that doesn't exist in the camera. I'll check in more depth when I'm in front o...

Re: Review of cheap $35 532nm Laser
Nice report Andy! If you start digging into the world of laser for demanding applications like Raman or interferometry, you will want to invest in a high-resolution spectrometer like the one I built : https://www.thepulsar.be/article/high-resolution-spectroscopy With it, you can investigate the curr...

Re: Cheapest possible "toy" spectrometer? $323
It's a question of tradeoff as always. But here are a few things to consider: non back-scattering setups require more alignments per sample. with solid it might be ok if you have a lot of subsurface scattering but with liquid it's going to be really painful. My first liquid cuvette was actually a 90...

Cancelling the ghost image
The initial version of the autocollimator suffers from a ghost image which is 1/4th of the intensity of the main signal: autoco ghost.png It originates from a reflection on the chrome-on-glass target which is reflective. Because of the beamsplitter, the ghost signal is attenuated by a factor (1/2)² ...

Re: SpectrumAnalyzer.sln build errors
I was able to track it down. It's due to C++ compliance changes of Visual Studio from version 2015 to the more recent ones. Hopefully there is a quick fix! Right click on the project and select Properties > C/C++ > Language and change "Conformance Mode" to "No (/permissive)". It ...

Re: Photos of your build
Interesting comment about the camera bracket. Did you check if the diameter (before drilling) matched the one in the drawing ? I'm asking because recently I made a mod to use a NAVITAR 35 mm objective. The technical drawing mentioned something like 32.4 mm so I designed the part accordingly (it's a ...

Re: Introduce yourself!
Welcome Andy and thank you for your active enthusiasm with the project! I would love to hear about your experiments with chromatography as it's something I wanted to investigate since I was a student (my only experience of chromatography was basically to look at an operator saying "don't touch ...
