DJ532-40 Beam Diameter/Collimation

Post by Tom »

Firstly let me say, what an amazing project! Thank you for all of your input.

I am in the process of building the performace edition with a view to adapting it at a later stage to include a microscope objective in a similar manner to ga10's.

From what I can see, the DJ532-40 in the performance edition is uncollimated (although pretty reasonable as is). Does anyone have a reasonable measurement for the beam diameter? I'd ultimately like to expand the beam out to 6-10mm prior to entering the objective.

Also, if anyone has any experience collimating this diode, any pointers would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

I tried but without much success. No idea what the beam waist is or other gaussian parameters :-/

I tried putting a 20x beam expander in front of it without any apparent changes; this LD bugs me out because I never had issues with other LD or SM fibers.

If you find something, please report your observations as I'm interested in knowing too :)
