Re: Alignment Question

Sorry, my bad -- for some reason when I googled for the GC1380H it proposed a datasheet for another model and I didn't pay attention to the model number  Here is the correct one : https://www.alliedvision.com/en/camera-selector/detail/prosilica-gc/1380h/ The absolute sensitivity threshold is ...

Re: Alignment Question

I looked up on Internet to gather some data on this camera model and I found this page : https://vitalvisiontechnology.com/allied-vision-manta-g-145b-poe/ It's an old CCD sensor (ICX285) with a not-so-good light sensitivity. The website mentions an absolute detectivity threshold of 11 e- with a quan...

Re: Alignment Question

Which camera model of the ProSilica are you using exactly? Exposure time is typically around ~10 seconds on the Starter Edition for precision measurement to fully expose the sensor and get the highest dynamic range but it's still possible to recognize spectra with lower exposure time, down to 100 ms...

Re: Alignment Question

Hi, It is possible to use the camera software directly for the alignment. At which stage of the alignment process are you stuck ? Also, but that's more of a general remark, it is not recommended to use a color camera sensor because you are throwing away more than 75% of the signal when using a green...

Re: Converting CCD Image to Raman Spectrum

I don't have any names on the top of my head but there are surely some. At the very least, you can use the Matlab code that I gave here : http://www.open-raman.org/build/breadboard/assembly/ The process of converting an image to a spectra is not very complicated and can be split into two steps: (1) ...

Re: Open Raman Software Issue: Camera Not Detected

Hello, It's possible to add support for other camera brands but you need to make a program to "bridge" the functions from the SpectrumAnalyzer software to the camera own functions. I did it for Daheng cameras and it's a couple of days of work when you know what you're doing. It however req...

Re: Beginner in spectroscopy

Hello rama, That's a lot of questions -- I will try to answer them one by one. No questions are stupid btw and we're all here to help :) Generally speaking, professional Raman spectrometers are indeed expensive -- reason for which I started the OpenRAMAN project. On the other hand, you should not ne...

Re: Some questions about EC meter

The idea of using a reference value was to compensate for small drifts in the amplitude of the applied sine wave.

I haven't test without it but when I designed the circuit I wanted to be safe and included as baseline.

Re: Parts list

The people from Strathclyde were kind enough to make a text version of the list at the bottom of the page here:

Re: Raman Thermometer

The generic background correction method is not ideal for quantitative work.

The easiest is to export the raw spectrum in csv and, using Matlab or excel, remove a slanted line at the base of the peak. It works very well for isolated sharp peaks but it's more tricky for broader peaks.
